Selecting the Right Transmission Fluid for Your Vehicle

Casey Automotive • July 26, 2013

In order to keep your vehicle’s transmission in peak working condition, you should change your transmission fluid and filter around every 30,000 miles. When you change your transmission fluid, it is important to choose the right transmission fluid for your vehicle. Using the wrong type of transmission fluid can cause significant and costly damage to your transmission. The best way to determine what type of transmission fluid is right for your vehicle is to check the owner’s manual. The vehicle manufacturer will recommend either Dextron or Mercon fluid, the two types of transmission fluid available.
