Understanding What Your Car’s Heater Core Does

While it’s hard to imagine switching on your vehicle’s heater this summer, there may come a time when it is important to do so. In fact, if your car is overheating, experts recommend rolling the windows down and cranking your car’s heating system. The reason for this is that in order to supply heat to the cabin, your car’s heating system must first draw heat from the car’s heater core. The heater core gets hot when it takes in hot coolant from the cylinder head and recirculates it to the pump. Your car has a heater fan that blows the heat from the heater core and sends it to the cabin.
